TMAY stands for Tell Me About Yourself and it is often the first question you’ll be asked in a job interview. While this might seem like a simple icebreaker to kick off the conversation, this is your first and best chance to pitch yourself and why you’re the right person for them to hire.
Join Georgetown MBA Grads as they share their strategies and tactics in a TMAY workshop. In this workshop, we mentor students after breaking into group sessions and hearing their TMAY

Resume Workshops:
Employers require resume. Recruiters only
spend about 30 seconds glancing over your resume. Not only do you have to make
sure that your resume is well formatted and easy to read, you also must make it
easy for the reviewer to get a sense of who you are and differentiate yourself
from the competition.
Our goal is to give you some general tips
on how to and how not to structure your resume and then give you each time to
get some feedback on your resume or see an example of a successful one and talk
through it. One point we want to emphasize to start is that you should not have
the same resume for every job and every industry. Every industry and every
position are going to be looking for something different, and it’s important to
highlight those differences in your resume.
In this workshop, we review resumes and
give our feedback to refine it. It would be great if participants bring a copy
of their resume.
Negotiations Workshop:
All of us are currently in the same boat.
We are finishing up school, preparing for interviews, talking to potential
employers, and hopefully, receiving many job offers. But don’t get so excited
about the job offer that you just accept whatever salary and benefits are
offered to you. It is important to know your worth, know what you need, and
engage in a conversation with the employer to get to an agreement you’re both
happy with. In this workshop, we’re going to focus on how to successfully
negotiate a job offer, hear from some people who have done it successfully in
the past, and give you all some time to practice before we reconvene.
Strategic Communications:
The term “strategic communications” has
become popular over the last two decades. It means infusing communications
efforts with an agenda and a master plan. Typically, that master plan
involves promoting the brand of an organization, urging people to do specific
actions, or advocating legislation.
In this workshop, meet with MBA grads to learn about their plans and how they use communication strategically when talking to companies’ executives.
